A few notes from today. This looks more like a reaction or a call out by the monkey. It is hard to read his emotions with him faced away from the camera. A single take may be better starting with him facing the camera so the viewer can read the character's facuial expression and then turn.
The timing and spacing of the animated action is that of a take but the story is not clear as to what the monkey is actually reacting to, or feeling.
